The Excellent Upward Trend for Electromobility will Continue in 2021.

Der hervorragende aufsteigende Trend für die Elektromobilität setzt sich auch im Jahr 2021 fort.

The explosion in the number of registrations for electromobility will continue in 2021. With an increase of 98.1%, almost twice as many new electric cars were registered in January 2021 as in the same period of the previous year. In exact numbers, this means that 1,377 electric vehicles came onto the Austrian roads in the last month.

Including hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, no less than 31.2% and thus almost every third newly registered vehicle last month was an electrified drive.

The VW ID.3 just made it to first place with 199 vehicles. The Renault Zoe was also very popular with 196 units. The Audi e-tron follows somewhat behind, with 135 units or 10% of all new electric car registrations. The Tesla Model 3 remained below the 100 mark with 94 vehicles, but overall, it was also a very popular electric model in January 2021.

Compared with all types of drive, the electric drive continues to increase in popularity. New registrations of combustion vehicles fell by 45% for gasoline and almost 60% for diesel cars. The share of fully electric vehicles was 9.7% in January 2021.

Modern forms of financing, such as car subscriptions, which continue to gain traction, also make a significant contribution to this enormous growth. In addition, the investment premium is still available in Austria until the end of February 2021, which leads to a further 14% price reduction in addition to federal funding.
